About Us
Constance Jacob a Colorado artist / interior designer is the owner of Magic ARTISTRY Studios, the parent company of all the other individual "lines", specializing in original art work and residential and commercial wall finishes and interior design. She started out in the 1980's as a wallpaper contractor, running the company Sticky Business. Along with her two sons, Ian & Joshua Preest, she managed the painting company Spectrum Ltd. Painting. As the treatment of walls changed and evolved into faux finishes, and more dimensional techniques, Ms. Jacob continued her studies and personal studio experiments with paint. Her companies grew with the trends of faux finishes, handmade torn wallpaper, and hand trowel textures such as venetian plaster.
Constance's company L'Exprea Ltd. Collection handmade t o r n wallpaper is now an international paper distributor, offering many different types, styles, and colors of wallpaper that the competitors just do not have. L'Exprea has designs of dipped small torn pieces (organic or shaped) and panel / full sheets (ceiling to floor) with a torn vertical edge, supported on a large range of various types of papers. Each paper type takes the paint or dye differently. L'Exprea has geometric design papers and stone, brick, and block lines.
Murals & Wall Designs came to life out of a collision between Constance's many years as both an art major and a wallpaper contractor. She invented a process of painting murals and wall designs on thin paper entirely in the studio, which are then delivered to the clients home and applied to the wall with adhesive. Because the paper is so thin the brushstrokes look as if the artist painted the entire piece on the wall directly. Constance's commissions range from full wall murals, smaller decorative pieces (as are found in children's rooms), or custom borders. After 15 years of hanging conventional borders with the same repeat ever 12" square around the room, Ms. Jacob was inspired to create "free form borders". Free form borders are any type of design (flowers, symbols, geometric) painted on mural paper, cut out and put on the wall in a random (female energy) layout around the room. Many of the designs weave around the walls and the furnishings rather then being placed straight across the wall and around the room as conventional borders are hung.
Primitive Fire - the uncivilized lighting collection made itself known as soon as a light source had the first opportunity to shine through that first piece of handmade wallpaper. No other illumination lights up a room as these lamps do. They are not reading / work functional lamps but creators of ambient atmosphere. The lamps of this collection are much like the lights on a holiday tree which effect everyone in there presence. Constance started out making a lamp to fit the primitive decor of her African theme home, never dreaming that people would express so much interest in the unusual new design. The artist's lamp designs are as small as ten inches tall to floor lamps towering at ten feet tall. The Primitive Fire lamp line has all the standard lamp sizes but also carries table lamps which are taller then standard size because of the excessive size of furniture at this time. Each lamp is an original one of a kind, is titled and numbered. Custom colors / designs and standard lamp shades in handmade paper are available.
